Wadduwa
Conveniently located on the south west sea
board of sunny Sri Lanka, 70 km from the international
airport at Katunayake & 40 km south of Colombo
lies Wadduwa. The name is derived from ‘Veda
Doova’ in Sinhala which translates as ‘an area
of indigenous medical practice’.

Coconut tapping is another industry which is
flourishing in Wadduwa, producing Toddy (a mildly
alcoholic beverage) & Vinegar. The age old process
of coconut tapping is very interesting & well
worth watching if one has the time. Looks easy,
but please don’t try it!!
